Your safety is important to us and that includes how you store and handle your medications. Some precautions to take are:
- Wash hands before and after handling
- Keep away from food and other household items
- Keep away from children and pets
- If you are a caregiver, pour pills into a small cup and hand to the patient and/or wear protective gloves, masks, glasses, etc
Are You Planning To Travel?
If you are planning to travel, please make sure you have enough medication and/or supplies to get you through your trip – plus a little extra. If you have any concerns regarding a refill or delivery while you are away, please contact us at 877.662.6633 or send us a message.
Travel Tips for Medication
- Always keep your medication in your carry-on in case your luggage is lost
- If you’re traveling across time zones, talk to our pharmacist about how to adjust your medication schedule
- Medications should be kept in their original containers with your name, doctor’s name, and the prescription information printed on the bottle to make your way through customs and/or security easily
- Keep track of temperatures. Certain medications are sensitive to extremely hot or cold temperatures, which can affect how well they work. If a medication needs to be refrigerated, keep them in an insulated lunch bag with a freezer pack inside your carry-on.
- Check for restrictions at your destination. Just because a medication is legal in the U.S. doesn’t mean it’s allowed in other countries. Before you go abroad, check with your destination’s U.S. Embassy.
Safe Disposal of Medication
These medications are designed to kill cancer cells but may also harm normal cells in the body. So, it’s important that they are disposed of properly. Do not throw unused or expired medication into the garbage or flush it down the toilet. To find a local drug disposal near you, visit the NABP for recommendations. If a drug disposal site is not available in your area, please follow the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) guidelines for the safe disposal of unused or unwanted medications. You may also contact your state’s Board of Pharmacy as an additional resource.
Patient Support
Our mission at Onco360 is to improve the lives of those battling cancer. It’s a diagnosis that can impact every aspect of your life and we know how important it is to find trusted advocacy groups and to connect with others in your community to share your experiences. Even though we are always here to help, we’ve provided a list of resources that offer additional resources.
