Prostate Cancer Awareness Month
As the month of September transports many of us into fall, it’s also an important time to focus on Prostate Cancer Awareness. 1 man in 7 will be diagnosed with prostate cancer during his lifetime. Prostate cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in men, second only to lung cancer. According to The American Cancer Society, there will be an estimated 180,890 new cases of prostate cancer in the United States for 2016. On behalf of our prostate cancer patients and all those supporting their journey to recovery, Onco360 joins with you to help bring awareness to this disease.
KNOW YOUR RISKS
Every 20 minutes another American man dies from prostate cancer. That is a little more than 75 deaths per day. A man’s risk of prostate cancer increases with age and most prostate cancer is found in men over 50 years. The greatest risk factors are increasing age, family history, ancestry, and exposure to certain chemicals.
BENEFITS OF EARLY DETECTION
All men are at risk of prostate cancer. When found early more than 99 percent of men will be alive five years later. Detecting prostate cancer early gives you the best chance of living longer. Find out more from The American Cancer Society’s Guidelines For Early Detection of Cancer.
